Frequently asked questions

Is Base64 encryption?

No. Base64 only changes how bytes are written so they survive text-only channels; anyone can decode it. Never use it to hide secrets.

Why does decoding fail?

The input contains characters outside the Base64 alphabet or has the wrong length. Base64url (with - and _) is used in JWTs — use the JWT decoder for those.

Is it free, and is my data uploaded?
